Hungary's Omninvest develops vaccine for H5N1 influenza

Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany reported that Omninvest developed a vaccine to protect humans against the H5N1 influenza strain. The vaccine was approved by the country's national pharmaceutical institute for commercial production.

European Commission spokesman Philip Tod said that the organisation "welcomed" the news, adding that Omninvest will have to prove the vaccine complies with EU health standards before it can be marketed, as reported in Morningstar.
