  • China will expand the number of cancer drugs eligible for medical insurance reimbursement later this year, Xinhua reported Thursday.

  • According to the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA), treatments for rare diseases, chronic illness, children and first-aid treatment are also being considered for expanded coverage.

  • The regulator additionally banned some drugs from coverage, including those posing risks to wildlife.

  • The move will mark the first adjustment of the list since the establishment of the NHSA last year 2018, while the current list, containing 2588 drugs, was released in 2017.
