  • The Jakarta Post reported that Merck KGaAs' Indonesia unit expects double-digit growth in 2016 sales after seeing a slump in sales last year.
  • In 2015, Merck's net sales fell 18 percent to 983 billion rupees ($73.7 million), while profit rose 2.3 percent to 179.6 billion rupees.
  • The company's finance director Bambang Nurcahyo said that the sales decline was due to 2012 change in a Trade Ministry regulation that prohibited the company from selling imported chemical products in Indonesia.
  • Meanwhile, Merck recorded double-digit growth in its healthcare business in 2015, with the biopharma business up by 14.5 percent, above the industry average of 8 percent to 9 percent.
