Bill would let patients buy cheaper insulin from other countries - (The Hill via NewsPoints Desk)

  • Legislation introduced by US Representative Peter Welch would permit patients to import insulin from other countries, The Hill reported Wednesday.

  • "Prices for insulin have gone through the roof and are hammering diabetes patients who cannot live without this life-saving medicine yet cannot afford to pay for it," Welch commented.

  • The news comes after Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Elijah Cummings unveiled a bill in January that would more broadly allow the importation of certain prescription drugs.
