New York, states reach $700 million settlement with Reckitt over opioid probes - (Yahoo!Finance via NewsPoints Desk)

  • According to New York Attorney General Letitia James, New York and five other states have reached a $700-million settlement with Reckitt Benckiser over claims that it improperly marketed the opioid addiction therapy Suboxone, as reported by Yahoo!Finance.

  • In July, Reckitt Benckiser agreed to pay as much as $1.4 billion to resolve US claims that its former pharmaceuticals business Indivior, before it was spun out, conducted an illegal scheme to increase Suboxone sales.

  • Earlier this year, Indivior was indicted and accused of deceiving doctors and healthcare benefit programs into believing Suboxone Film, itself a form of opioid, was safer and less susceptible to abuse than similar drugs.
