Drug imports will not lower US prices, says Canadian ambassador - (The Business Times via NewsPoints Desk)

  • Kirsten Hillman, Canada's acting ambassador to the US, told US officials in recent meetings that Canada does not have a large enough supply of prescription drugs to meet US demand, and importing medicines from Canada would not significantly lower US prices, The Business Times reported.

  • "Not only are we too small of a market, Canada cannot increase its domestic pharmaceutical drug supply to meet US demand," she said.

  • "Canada remains dedicated to working with the US to improve our citizens' health and well-being, recognising that Canada's priority is to ensure a steady and solid supply of medications at affordable prices for Canadians," Hillman added.
