Regulator bars sale of local antiviral drug - (Business World via NewsPoints Desk)

  • According to the Department of Health (DoH), the Philippine Food and Drug Administration has asked the maker of the antiviral injection fabunan to stop selling it as a cure for COVID-19, reported Business World.

  • Fabunan is an unregistered product and has not been approved by a regulator, said Maria Rosario S. Vergeire, an undersecretary of the DoH.

  • "The DoH is open to endorse treatments that have gone through rigorous studies," said Vergeire, adding that the government hopes local scientists developing vaccines will seek FDA approval.
