Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro said that nobody will be forced to have a COVID-19 vaccine once it is developed, as reported by Global News.
The comments come after the country’s government earmarked 1.9 billion reais ($346 million) in funding to purchase and eventually produce 100 million doses of a potential vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University.
Meanwhile, the Sao Paulo state government is also working on a vaccine candidate with Sinovac Biotech.
The country hopes distribution of either vaccine can start at the beginning of next year.
