Saudi Arabia has approved the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, reported Bloomberg.
Hani Jokhdar, deputy minister for public health, said Thursday that the kingdom has the capacity to administer 200,000 vaccinations a day and aims to secure enough supply to ramp up its immunization program.
"We will be able to deliver 1.4 million doses every week," Jokhdar said, adding that the kingdom planned to roll out AstraZeneca’s vaccine "this weekend."
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority previously approved Pfizer and BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine.
